Celebrating Community and Culture at OAC Elsternwick
At OAC Elsternwick, celebrating community and culture is a wonderful way for children to learn, connect and have fun. Throughout the year, our campus comes alive with festivities that bring children, families and educators together to explore different traditions and share meaningful experiences.
We start the year celebrating Lunar New Year, where children and families join in hands-on activities like making dumplings. These activities spark curiosity and allow children to learn about the customs, foods and stories associated with this important festival.
In the following months, we celebrate Rosh Hashanah, where children share traditional foods and discover the values and traditions of the Jewish New Year. These experiences help children appreciate culture while connecting with their families and the wider community.
Later in the year, during Hanukkah, children enjoy decorating, playing games, and learning about the festival’s traditions and stories. Activities are designed to be fun, engaging and educational, giving children the opportunity to explore different cultural practices.
Finally, as the year comes to a close, we celebrate Christmas. Our campus fills with festive decorations, creative activities and joyful celebrations that allow children to explore holiday traditions, express their creativity, and share special moments with their families.
Celebrating together not only teaches children about diversity, customs and traditions, but also strengthens the bonds between children, educators and families. At OAC Elsternwick, every cultural and community celebration is a chance for children to learn, explore and grow in a supportive and fun environment.
