OAC Rhodes came alive with colour, culture and celebration as children, families and educators welcomed Lunar New Year together. It was a joyful community event filled with hands-on experiences, traditional performances and meaningful learning.

The highlight of the day was a lively lion dance performance. Children watched in awe as the lion moved through the campus, bringing excitement, rhythm and tradition to life. The performance sparked curiosity and opened conversations about the cultural significance of the dance and the stories behind it.

Families joined the fun with dumpling making, giving children the chance to explore new flavours and traditions through food. Cooking together created a wonderful opportunity for connection while learning about the importance of sharing meals during Lunar New Year celebrations.

Creativity was everywhere. Children crafted colourful lanterns, tried their hand at calligraphy writing, and explored the intricate art of paper cutting. Each activity encouraged fine motor development while deepening their understanding of cultural traditions.

One of the most special moments was the wishing tree, where children and families shared hopes and wishes for the year ahead. It was a beautiful way to reflect, connect and celebrate new beginnings as a community.

At OAC Rhodes, events like Lunar New Year are about more than celebration. They are an opportunity for children to explore culture, build respect for diversity and create lasting memories with their families. We love welcoming our community into the campus and sharing these meaningful experiences together.
