What Free Kinder Funding is available at OAC?

Free Kinder is for everyone, OAC offers funding for 3YO Kindergarten, 4YO Kindergarten, ESK and Pre-Prep.

How is the Free Kinder applied to my family statement?

If your child is eligible, Free Kinder Fee Relief will be applied weekly to your Family Statement across 44 weeks from 1 February 2027 to the week ending 26 November 2027. You should be able to see the amount clearly stated on your invoice as 'Victorian Government Free Kinder offset.'

What if my child attends more than one service?

Children can only receive Family Fee Relief funding at one service at a time. If a child attends more than one service, the family must nominate one service where they wish to receive funding.

What if my child moves to a different OAC service during 2027?

When a child starts at a new OAC service the family must update their nomination for funding. Speak with your Campus Director or Family Support Team to arrange this.

What if I am unsure as to when my child can start Kinder?

VIC Free Kinder Funding

If you're a parent in Victoria with a child aged three to five years old, you may be eligible for free kindergarten funding through the Victorian Government's Free Kinder Program.

What is Free Kinder funding?

The Victorian Government offers Free Kinder funding for eligible children to support their learning and development in the 2 years before they start school.

The Free Kinder Funding program is designed to ensure all children have access to the benefits of early learning and intended to give children a strong foundation for a successful school experience.

Free Kinder Funding covers 15 hours of kindergarten per week. Our Kindergarten programs will receive Free Kinder funding directly from the Victorian Government, so your family is not out of pocket (and you don’t have to make a claim). Only About Children is participating in Free Kinder is at all of our campuses in Melbourne (except Deanside & Charlemont).

To access Free Kinder, families will need to complete a VIC Government 2027 ‘One Funded Form’ for each child and a ‘Parental Occupation and Education’ form and provide the completed forms to the Campus. Access to a Free Kinder is only available from one service at a time, and upon completion and return of the forms.
