Bringing Stories to Life During Book Week at OAC Mernda
Book Week was a wonderful opportunity for children at Only About Children Mernda to immerse themselves in the much-loved story of Jack and the Beanstalk through imaginative play and storytelling. Based on the children’s interest in the story, educators created an inviting themed environment that encouraged exploration, creativity and collaboration.
Throughout the experience, children brought the story to life through character play, using their imaginations to recreate familiar scenes and explore different roles. Through both one-to-one interactions and small group experiences, they used the characters and storyline to express their ideas, share their understanding and engage in meaningful conversations with their peers and educators.
As children explored the story in different ways, they developed their verbal communication skills and built confidence in expressing themselves. Through imaginative role play, they deepened their connection to the book while strengthening their language, social and collaborative skills.
The joyful exploration of Jack and the Beanstalk made Book Week a memorable and enriching experience, celebrating the power of storytelling and children’s natural love of learning.
