About the Role:
  
We are currently recruiting for a Permanent Senior Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Financial Manager, this role involves providing high quality financial accounting services to OAC.  This position is responsible for the delivery of monthly financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and statutory compliance including; annual reports, and tax obligations.
In addition, the role needs to establish and continually modify general accounting procedures and systems to gain process improvements.

Other Key responsibilities will include:

Management Accounts – Preparation of payroll and operational expenses workpapers and journal entries for the monthly financial accounts to the trial balance stage. Regular data analysis of various aspects of management accounts as required, such as for overhead costs, payroll costs, government funding, etc. 

Financial Accounts – Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for assigned areas. Preparation of monthly leave provision calculations including sense-checking payroll data. Liaise with the payroll team to investigate and adjust items on month end reconciliations as required and support throughout year-end audit process. 

Taxation Management – Preparation or analysis of financial information for FBT returns, and support for income tax return preparation as required 

Process Improvement– Creation and improvement of accounting workpapers to support efficient processing and reviews. Identify areas where general accounting procedures and systems can be modified for increased efficiencies.

  
Essential Criteria 

  • CA or CPA qualified or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years’ experience and skilled in all aspects of financial accounting.
  • Intermediate/Advanced experience with IT and systems including financial programs/ ERP system, word, excel and outlook. 
  • Excellent communication skills, a high attention to detail and a positive attitude with the experience in delivering impeccable customer/stakeholder service. 
  • Strong administrative and procedural skills with effective record keeping ability.
  • Maturity and confidence to deal with confidential and/or sensitive information.
  • Understanding of spreadsheets, data analysis and reconciliation procedures with strong administrative and procedural skills. 
  • Must be proficient in the use of essential modern computer tools like Excel, and experience in an ERP system.
  • Ability to work effectively with campus and support office staff.
